About the Department
The origin of the department can be traced back to the year 2001 when it started its M.B.A Programme, which is recognized by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Chennai. The Department is functioning with the aim of providing quality management education as well to mould the students as competent, high profile business executives, entrepreneurs and socially responsible citizens of the country. They have been moulded in such a way to think globally and act locally. The department has a vision of being an "Abode of managerial excellence" and of "business acumen".
Here, the basic concepts are being taught through traditional lecture method and an in depth understanding is being infused through case study method, group discussion, role play, business games, simulation exercises, seminars, guest lectures, and practical project works besides the routine internal class works.
The teaching-learning process adopted facilitates continuous and rigorous assessment of the student's progress via Anna University of Technology, Chennai guidelines. Besides, the methods adopted stresses the development of analytical and communication skills etc.
The in-campus activity focuses on all the learning needs of the students, with the stress on providing an active learning climate, which reflects the student-centric culture of the institution. The institution believes in trust and transparency in every effort what it takes in respect of any activity. That helps us to earn goodwill and trust among the students and parents. More over, the institute introspects itself periodically to make sure that it moves in the right direction.
The department has the "state of the art" facility and "techno savvy" to include all kinds of novel teaching aids to inculcate the habit of learning by students. It ranges from OHP, LCD, Smart board etc. More ever, the facility includes internet lab, communication lab, GD hall, case study hall, seminar hall, departmental library etc.
The students are admitted based on the entrance exams such as TANCET, MAT and test administered by consortium of self-financing engineering and arts colleges besides its own selection mode such as test, GD and personal interview etc.
The Department of Management Studies has to its credit of being a department which stresses on discipline, hard work, honesty, integrity, and self-reliance etc which are hard core elements essential for success in the changing scenario. It stresses the importance of meeting industry requirements in the changing business scenario. It focuses on a conceptual foundation, as well specialization in a chosen area to have an edge in the particular field of interest.
The Department is under a conducive climate which offers every faculty to learn, grow and have a meaningful career. The department has a smart and enthusiastic team of faculty who leave no stone unturned for the progress of the department and thereby student community.
The Department achieves sustained growth in every activity driven by professionalism, meritocracy, fair play, and team work. It is a great place to work, grow and to achieve self-sustenance.
It also believes in achieving departmental excellence through human resource i.e through the power of people. It enhances their potential by professional training programmes, recognition systems and skill enhancement initiatives. Thus it is a "learning organization" to enhance the power of people and power of minds.
The institute is indebted to its dedicated and distinguished faculty members- the institute's pillars of strength. The faculty members are involving themselves in continuous learning besides their teaching; they undertake research, consultancy, in house training programmes and publication of articles in refereed journals of National and International reputation. Further, they are actively source funded projects from various organizations such as AICTE, UGC, MHRD, DST and ICSSR etc. More ever, they also undertake locally relevant projects beneficial to the society, socio- economic survey etc funded by the institution.
The department is sensitized in such a way to respond to the changes in the market, society and environment. It has carved itself a great name for its interface with industry and its responsiveness to change in sectoral growth of business and society.
